Job brief
- To support the seamless running of the venue by providing the highest standards of attention to detail and customer service at all times.
- Restaurant Cashiers manage cash and sales transactions in dining facilities. Their responsibilities include promoting services, improving customer satisfaction, answering to inquiries, reporting to the Restaurant Manager, and greeting customers.
- Since cashiers work in the food service industry, they are often asked to fill in for hosts / waiters, so it is also important for them to know how to take orders and serve food & beverage.
Responsibilities
- Be proactive in counting money before a shift begins so that there is no miscalculation at the end of the shift.
- Greet and welcome customers.
- Resolve different types of complaints from customers or address them to the Restaurant Manager.
- Ensure that any changes in the prices are amended in EPOS/Tissl and on the menus so that staff and customers become aware of it.
- Ensure staff are aware of the modes of payment available.
- Answer customers’ questions, and provide information on procedures or policies.
- Ascertain that menus display the correct pricing and tax information.
- Operate cash machines and POS to calculate customers’ bills.
- Check bills to see if the correct amount has been displayed and print them out.
- Answer customers’ questions regarding billed items.
- Record totaled amounts, including expenses in restaurant’s database.
- Process credit and debit card payments and ensure that customers sign receipts.
- Assist waiters and servers during rush hours by packing takeaways.
- Keep track of inventory and ensure that restaurant supplies are ordered on time.
- Count cash in the cash register at the end of each shift and ensure that it tallies.
- Sort, count and wrap currency and coins and arrange for them to be deposited to the bank.
- Ascertain that there is sufficient change available at the beginning of each day.
- Post charges against customers’ accounts and follow up with them for payments.
- To maintain a high customer awareness by approaching your job with the customers always in mind.
