Waiter
Job brief
- To take orders and deliver them to our guests maintaining and enhancing the quality of our customer service. Will work in close collaboration with colleagues and follow established health and safety standards.
- The right Waiter/Waitress is someone who will have the patience, personality and perseverance to thrive in this role.
- Waiter/Waitress responsibilities include greeting and serving customers, owners, providing detailed information on menus, multi-tasking various frontof-the-house duties and collecting the bill. He/she should be able to perform well in fast-paced environments.
- To be a successful Waiter or Waitress, you should be polite with our customers. You should also be a team player and be able to effectively communicate with our Kitchen Staff to make sure orders are accurate and delivered promptly.
Responsibilities
- To demonstrate pride in working for Gerbou and a high level of commitment.
- To report for duty as per schedule, clean, tidy, wearing correct uniform .
- To attend departmental communication meetings, trainings sessions and to ensure to operate in line with the instructions received.
- To minimize operating costs by using all equipment and products in accordance with guidelines set and ensure all equipment are turned off at the end of each shift following closing procedures and check list.
- To report any maintenance defects and follow-up.
- Closing: Ensure that the dining area is clean, orderly and well maintained, side stations are well stocked, chairs, tables are well stacked, linen to sent to laundry.
- To comply with company mandatory requirements for fire, health and safety, licensing and employment and to ensure that members of the team are also aware of these requirements and are working in accordance with the requirements.
- Follow Gerbou sequence of service.
- Possess 90% or better food knowledge with regular testing.
- To continually learn and grow with regards to food and beverage service.
- To ensure and maintain good relations with clients and team members.
- Greet and escort customers.
- Present menus, provide detailed information when asked (e.g. about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies)and help customers select food/beverages.
- Inform customers about the day’s specials.
- Up-sell additional products when appropriate.
- Serve food and drink orders.
- Take accurate food and drinks orders, using a POS ordering software,order slips or by memorization.
- Deal with complaints or problems with a positive attitude.
- Communicate order details to the Kitchen Staff.
- Check dishes for presentation and report any problems.
- Deliver checks and collect bill payments
- Carry dirty plates, glasses and silverware to kitchen for cleaning.
- Willing to share freely knowledge, information, ideas and experience to assist others.
- Works with and supports others as part of a team both within and across functions.
- Understands the needs to work together to create an environment of cooperation and mutual responsibility.
- Shows awareness / sensitivity/ tolerance towards cultural differences by moderating own cultural behaviors.
- Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for events (e.g. parties).
- Follow all relevant health department regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service to guests.
